Advanta Instructions For Use

PTFE Vascular Grafts

Atrium offers a family of unique, innovative and advanced vascular grafts tailored to meet the specific needs of various applications and to suit the preferences and techniques of individual vascular surgeons...it's all about choice.

The Advanta family of PTFE vascular grafts in particular offers many choices for specific needs or applications. Whether you prefer the remarkably "vein-like" performance of the Advanta™ SST graft, the strength of the Advanta™ VXT, or the strength and handling combination of the Advanta™ VS, you'll find the same Atrium quality and high-performance PTFE construction in each, as well as remarkable features. A contact-minimizing transfer sleeve and diameter markings are standard to each graft, and all PTFE grafts are compatible with the unique Slider™ GDS graft deployment system.

SST pulsatile, "vein-like" performance

The Advanta SST is nothing short of revolutionary and is the only PTFE graft that pulses and performs like nature intended, with little or no needle hole bleeding or weeping. Using state-of-the-art membrane technology Atrium has crafted a perfect blend of biomaterial science into the world’s most pulsatile vascular graft. It is constructed from an amazing hydrostatic protection membrane developed and patented by Atrium.

Our proprietary trilaminate construction has been engineered to meet or exceed all surgical and performance strength requirements, with the benefit of being extraordinarily supple with incredible “vein-like” handling qualities. Due to the extremely pliable feel of the new Advanta SST construction, this easy to handle PTFE graft conforms like no other. Atrium’s new Advanta SST simply conforms better to the host vessel for a superior leak-proof anastomosis. After clamp release, the amazing SST graft jumps to life and pulses just like a native vessel, with little or no blood loss.

VXT the strongest two-piece PTFE graft

On average, VXT vascular grafts exhibit 120% greater suture retention compared to its closest reinforced PTFE Graft competitor, and upwards of 40% greater radial burst strength. This means less of a chance of suture pullout and/or needle hole elongation, even in challenging AV graft locations. Greater radial burst strength means improved graft stability following dialysis needle cannulation or distal Fem-Pop angulations.

Atrium’s innovative Composite Reinforcement Technology™(CRT) also provides improved radial torque, kink and compression resistance, with uncompromising handling. Atrium has created a hardier, more durable composite graft construction that is significantly less dense than other reinforced PTFE and/or polymer bonded, heparin coated PTFE grafts. Atrium’s lighter, less dense reinforcement film has an average porosity of 60µm, and has been carefully engineered for a more natural healing response.

VS strength and handling

Studies have shown that a graft is less likely to become infected or develop complications such as hematoma or seroma formation when properly incorporated with collagen-forming connective tissue.

That is why Atrium has taken a biological approach to graft design. Advanta VS has an exclusive 60/20 thru-pore design that results in the strongest, best handling one-piece design available.

Advanta VS has greater kink and compression resistance due to its larger concentric radial nodes. These unique microscopic structures help Advanta VS to maintain its shape even with digital pressure.
