Pass-Through Billing Codes for Atrium Products

Since January 1, 2005, Medicare has allowed pass-through payments for Atrium Chest Drainage devices. The Department of Health and Human Services has created HCPCS pass-through codes that will allow ‘outpatients’ or ‘outbound patients’ to obtain the necessary back-up chest drains/chest drain valves needed for continued, uninterrupted drainage in the home/outpatient setting. The new codes allow for quick, efficient billing for these chest drains. For individual state reimbursement rates, visit the Statistical Analysis Durable Medical Equipment Regional Carrier (SADMERC) website at www.palmettogba.com and click the SADMERC link or call toll free at 1-877-735-1326.
